How to Play Glow

The grid

The board is a grid of cells. Some cells contain numbered stones (clues). Empty cells can hold a firefly or stay dark. Your job is to light the entire grid using logic — never guess.

Numbered stones

A number on a stone tells you how many fireflies must be placed in the same row and column as that stone (including the stone's cell if applicable, depending on puzzle rules). In Glow, numbers count fireflies visible along the row and column from that stone's position.

  • 0 means no fireflies in that row or column segment
  • Higher numbers mean more fireflies must glow nearby
  • When a clue turns mint-green, it is satisfied

Shy fireflies

Fireflies are shy — they cannot see each other. Two fireflies cannot be in the same row or column unless a stone blocks their line of sight. Think of light traveling in straight lines until it hits a wall or stone.

Winning

You win when:

Every required cell is lit

All numbered clues are satisfied

No two fireflies conflict

  • Use the progress bar to see cells left to light
  • Undo mistakes freely
  • Watch a rewarded ad in the app for an optional hint

Daily vs practice

The daily puzzle is the same for everyone each UTC day — perfect for streaks and sharing. Practice mode offers four sizes/difficulties you can replay anytime, plus an archive of past dailies.
